Healthy Relationships
This week I want everyone to learn about healthy and positive relationships with their family and friends. I will talk about how it’s okay to have disagreements and what the best way to handle a disagreement is. I have experienced my personal boundaries getting disrespected and I want to let other people know that you shouldn’t let that happen to you. Some components of a healthy relationship are good communication, appropriate boundaries, and honesty. These are important in healthy relationships because friends and family will not trust you if you don’t practice these skills. It is important to respect each other and also know that you make each other better people. Having the same likes with your friends and even the same dislikes will make it easy to find things to do together. This will build a bond between people. It is okay to disagree on things as long as both of the people discuss their feelings appropriately. Some examples of what not to do in a relationship are: making fun of someone, not having fun when you’re around the other person, and having negative behavior. You should enjoy each others company and have fun and be happy.

We got Buffett from the Arizona humane society he was sweet and cuddly and smart and understanding.
On October 3rd 2015 I found out that my mom and dad had to put Buffett down. He had fluid in his heart and in his lungs, bacteria in his urine, and had something wrong with his thyroid. He was a special dog. I remember him barking at shoes, it was so funny hearing him growl. He would do other funny things such as, scratch at the air when there was nothing to scratch at. I have so many good memories about my dog Buffett. REST IN PEACE BUFFETT 10-11-09 to 10-03-2015 This week I watched the music video for Akon’s song “Lonely”. This song came out in 2009 but I still like to listen to it. The link to the music video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EEW-9NDM5k. In the video Akon shows the audience that he cheated on his girlfriend and felt really bad so was crying. The video goes to his girlfriend packing a suitcase and crying on her way to the airport. He wants her back but she leaves because he missed their anniversary dinner. The lyrics talk about how lonely he is without her.
I like this song because it reminds me of my cousin who got married and I miss her. She lives in Oklahoma and I haven’t seen her in three months. They lyrics to the song are below: "Lonely" Lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely, I have nobody for my own I'm so lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely I have nobody for my own I'm so lonely. Yo this one here goes out to all my players out there, man, ya know that got that one good girl who's always been there, man, like took all the bullshit then one day she can't take it no more and decide to leave I woke up in the middle of the night and I noticed my girl wasn't by my side, coulda sworn I was dreaming, for her I was feenin, so I had to take a little ride, back tracking over these few years, tryna figure out what I do to make it go bad, 'Cause ever since my girl left me my whole life came crashing I'm so lonely (so lonely), I'm Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own) girl I'm so lonely (so lonely) I'm Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own) girl Can't believe I had a girl like you and I just let you walk right outta my life, after all I put you through you still stuck around and stayed by my side, what really hurt me is I broke your heart, baby, you were a good girl and I had no right, I really wanna make things right, 'Cause without you in my life girl I'm so lonely (so lonely) I'm Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own) girl I'm so lonely (so lonely) I'm Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own) girl Been all about the world ain't never met a girl that can take the things that you been through Never thought the day would come where you would get up and run and I would be out chasing you 'Cause ain't nowhere in the globe I'd rather be, ain't no one in the globe I'd rather see than the girl of my dreams that made me be so happy but now so lonely So lonely (so lonely) I'm Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own) I'm so lonely (so lonely) I'm Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely) I have nobody (I have nobody) For my own (to call my own) girl Never thought that I'd be alone, I didn't think you'd be gone this long, I just want you to call my phone, so stop playing girl and come on home (come on home), baby girl, I didn't mean to shout, I want me and you to work it out, I never wished I'd ever hurt my baby, and it's driving me crazy 'Cause... Hello again to all of our members and families and friends! We wanted to update you on what’s been happening at our program before we head into the holiday season that is fast approaching! Our days are always filled with learning opportunities geared to each individual to maximize their potential. Everyone participates in lessons that address money management skills, vocabulary, art, current events, social skills, job exploration, and even Spanish lessons. Cooking classes and daily lunch preparation increases everyone’s recipe repertoire. Afternoons are filled with outings and we’ve had some wonderful experiences over the last few months. We’ve visited the AZ Science Center, putted at Glow Golf, toured the Cardinals Stadium, enjoyed the Phoenix Auto Museum, and made a splash at Lorraine’s Pool Party. Most recently we had the opportunity to bring out our inner “ape” at the Ape Index Indoor Rock Climbing Gym. A special thank you to Shelbey’s mom, Barb, for inviting us to visit her ranch ~ complete with a pot belly pig, goats, a mini burro, chickens, horses that include a Clydesdale, a Mule Arabian, and a Percheron. And let’s not leave out the three dogs and a cat! The perfect end to the trip was a barbecue lunch provided by the Buffalo Chip Restaurant in Cave Creek. We haven’t forgotten about the importance of exercise, and all members go to the Virginia Piper Sports and Fitness Center once a week. Here they have the opportunity to utilize circuit training equipment, weight lifting, and walking/running on the track. We still love to bowl every week and it’s also great for fitness and for social fun…stay tuned for more information coming soon about joining Special Olympics! Members are encouraged to give back to the community and ADS continues to be active volunteers for the Tool Bank of Phoenix. Our members are also active in housekeeping skills at ADS and we’ve implemented an end of the month Pizza Reward Party for all of their newly learned and proficient skills! ADS is happy to announce that we are currently working on providing group supported employment for eligible members. Please contact a staff member for further information. ADS has also received eligibility as a Qualifying Charitable Organization. Persons can donate to ADS and receive a tax credit. Call us at the program (602-296-5781) for more information. Because we are always looking for new ideas and comments on how we are doing, please take a moment to comment on our post. This is your chance to help us make the progra even better for everyone! Thank you! ~Lorraine, Jessica, Shelbey, Mireya, Rebecca, and Ricky NAMI Walks
Walking for Mental Health! Saturday, October 17, 2015 8:00 am State Capitol Grounds If you would like to participate in the Walk, donate on behalf of a walker, or volunteer to help with the brunch cookout at the end of the walk please RSVP by Monday, October 12, 2015 to: Shelbey at Arizona Developmental Services 623-692-9966 For more information visit: www.namivalleywalk.org When I Become More Independent
When I become more independent with my skills I would like to go to college. I want to become a social worker or a paramedic. I like to help people when they are sick. My other goals in life are to get my own apartment, a car, or a sport bike. I would like to get tattoos of stuff that represents my recovery, like my survivor tattoo that I designed. It's a heart with a cross and a ribbon across that says "I am a survivor". I have a picture at the bottom of the tattoo I designed. Also, tattoos of skulls, hearts, and crosses. I want to cut my hair and dye it red and black so it matches my bike. I want to get my own bank account so I can go shopping for food and other necessities. For fun I might go on rides on my bike. I want to go to clubs and meet friends. I will also come back and visit ADS! I will call Lorraine and ask her to go on a girls night where I pay. To be able to do all these things I am going to show I am able to control my emotions and behavior by using coping skills. I will work hard at my goals to express my emotions appropriately. By attending counseling I will have support. When I go to school to become a social worker I will know how to talk to people positively and calmly. By practicing money management, life skills and social skills at ADS I will be prepared to live independently. Check us out on ProviderSearch.com and take a minute to review us!
http://providersearch.com/arizona-developmental-services-inc-366460.html This week my blog is on J-Reyez song That's Okay With Me. There is no music video for this song but the link to the youtube video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKvek2Q09hc&list=PL2B644577F201421E&index=54.
This song is about the singers love for his soulmate. They are in a fight but he says that he forgives her and that's what real relationships do. I like this song because it's romantic and pretty. I wanted to share it with you because it is a good song to share with friends. The lyrics are below. Thanks for listening! Lyrics to That's Okay With Me So I'm JReyez And I didn't know what more to say to you So I just made a song for you I hope you understand Yea [Verse 1:] Yeah, all the arguing and fighting Thinking that it was over, sparking it and it might be This hard life see it through my eye vision too Missioned all the way out of the city just to visit you We're growing up a lot faster than our friends They pretend and they wanna see us fall in the end And they don't care and they're living lies in their time Cus it makes them feel better about their lives going no where You never trusted me and I never trusted you No excuse your mistake was fully up to you But I forgave you, that's what we need to do We can speak it through, honestly I miss her with X and O's, I shoulda just let her know I shouldn't have let her go, she wouldn't be better off Cus the people all around her is nothing but bad influence I know that when I found her I loved her more than my music [Verse 2:] We forgot how it started, were lost in the moment All this commotion of bottled up emotion The love is blurred and it's out of it's focus It's been a few hours incase you didn't noticed Emotion in our voice is based on tone You don't get it so you go hang up the phone It's an excuse that your wrong but your trying to be right And I'm doing the same since the beginning of the fight And it's like we all the same, people make mistakes You keep me sane from the world of fakes The only person I can talk to and always there to listen You the best, I consider you my bestfriend Wanna relax knowing I got you And you got me too so let's walk it through Sometimes I can't even talk to you But just understand anythings possible [Verse 3:] Sometimes I feel like were the worst of friends Time is spent but just to her extent And I don't resent cus of her expense I'm trying to explain but there's her defence I respect you, the things that I said I never meant to Straight, I ain't fake and I ain't gotta pretend boo I see you in the mirror, you an exact resemblence You just like me, I'm sorry I acted selfish We both equal the same kind of people Me and you the picture frame gotta sequel I wouldn't leave you, I'm still by ya side And at the end of the day I know you still down to ride Bonnie and Clyde whatever you call it I'm right behind, whenever your fallin A big fight is just a small fraction Of us we just gotta be real and adapt it My dogs name is Buffet and he is a very smart dog. He eats a lot of dog food plus human food due too my dad giving him food. Buffet does not eat all his food because of my dad feeding him food that is bad for him. We named him Buffet after the Margaritaville singer Jimmy Buffet. We got him from the Arizona humane society he was 8 or 9 years old when we got him. I believe he is 10 or 11 years old now.
Buffet is a grey and white shih tzu poodle mix with a teddy bear hair cut style that they do for small dogs. My dog has many different names like buffaroni, buffaroo but my dad says if mom and me continue to call him that he will get confused. Every time when my dad gets home from work my dog wants to go to bed right away. My dog also used to chase chickens when he lived on a farm. The best thing about having a dog is the love and the companionship they give you. They also give you company and kisses on the nose, they are there when you are sad. They can sense when you are sick and need some one to be there. This week I want to share the song Talking to the Moon by Bruno Mars. There is no official music video for this song so I watched a lyric video on youtube. The link to the video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x94m407UJSI.
This song is about love and Bruno is sad because he's lonely. It sounds like he was with someone he loved but they broke up and he wants them back. Bruno talks about how everyone is saying that he's gone crazy because he's talking to the moon. Bruno hopes that his love is listening and talking back to him but sometimes he wonders if he's just talking to himself. I like this song because it reminds me of my girlfriend and it makes me happy. Thanks for listening! Until next week... The lyrics for this song are:
Somewhere far away I want you back I want you back My neighbors think I'm crazy But they don't understand You're all I have You're all I have At night when the stars Light up my room I sit by myself Talking to the moon Tryin' to get to you In hopes you're on The other side Talking to me too Or am I a fool Who sits alone Talking to the moon Oh I'm feeling like I'm famous The talk of the town They say I've gone mad Yeah I've gone mad But they don't know what I know 'Cause when the sun goes down someone's talking back Yeah they're talking back At night when the stars Light up my room I sit by myself Talking to the moon Tryin' to get to you In hopes you're on The other side Talking to me too Or am I a fool Who sits alone Talking to the moon |
